Good Evening PRFC North Valley Families,

Earlier today the following message was sent out by our affiliate, Phoenix Rising  FC Youth Soccer. Please take a few moments to read it as it has important information regarding our continued efforts to 'flatten the curve' of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dear Phoenix Rising FC Youth Soccer Families,

Your Phoenix Rising FC Youth Soccer Club leadership continues to closely monitor the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and evaluate our responsibility as a youth sports organization with regards to helping educate and set an example for our members and community at large.

By now you have experienced a wave of schools being closed, businesses being closed, and municipalities closing their fields and parks. One of our member governing bodies, the Arizona Soccer Association (ASA), has recently suspended all soccer activities until April 10, 2020.

After consulting with our coaching leadership, medical experts, governing bodies, and our Youth Soccer Board of Directors, we will be extending the suspension of all soccer activities for the Competitive Program and the Recreational Spring League until April 10, 2020. We believe that this is the most responsible way for our Club to proceed. The safety of our players, families, coaches, and employees is our highest priority as well as being global citizens. The Phoenix Rising FC Youth Soccer office will also be closed until April 10, 2020. Our office staff will, however, be monitoring emails remotely and can be reached at info@prfcyouthsoccer.com.

While we are doing our part to encourage social distancing by limiting group interactions via soccer, we encourage our players to continue to work with a ball on their own at home.

Some of you are involved with teams that will be participating in either Presidents Cup or State Cup. Please see the excerpt below from the Arizona Soccer Association’s communication that addresses this:

It is ASA's hope and intention to host Presidents Cup and State Cup when it can be done safely for players, coaches, referees, and families. These events are qualifiers for US Youth Soccer Regional and National Championships. I have been in communication with US Youth Soccer. They, like us, are working through a myriad of scenarios in regard to hosting Regional and National Championships this year. The following are updates relating to Presidents Cup and State Cup:

  • Presidents Cup Silver and Presidents Cup Gold for U11 and U12 will not begin April 3, 2020.
  • The earliest Presidents Cup or State will kick-off is April 17, 2020, if it can be done safely
  • All dates relating to roster freeze and online check-in will remain as previously communicated.

State Cup and Presidents Cup are events that our players, coaches, referees, and families look forward to every year. ASA is committed to doing everything in our power to host these events when it is safe to do so in our communities. While these are very tough and confusing times ASA is committed to doing what is best for the community and will continue to assess the situation and provide communication about any changes.

Further, as a Club, we encourage our members to continue to follow the CDC’s Steps for Preventing Illness – https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/about/prevention.html.

We will continue to closely monitor this rapidly evolving situation and will make decisions as to when it is appropriate to resume soccer activities. We appreciate your understanding and respect for this decision.

As we continue to navigate this unknown situation we would like to thank you all for your patience. We all want to be back out on the field as soon as we can. In the meantime, please stay healthy and safe and don't forget to get your foot on the ball!
