Subject: Arizona Soccer Association (ASA) - Extend Suspension of Sanctioned Events to May 15, 2020

Dear PRFC North Valley Families,

Below is the latest ASA announcement regarding the 2020-2021  season and upcoming tryouts. We are saddened by this announcement because we know how much we all want to be back out on the field. However, at this time the safest place for all of us is at home.  We are working on adjusting our tryout schedule and will provide an update as soon as possible. Keep moving and stay healthy.

Subject: Arizona Soccer Association (ASA) - Extend Suspension of Sanctioned Events to May 15, 2020

Since mid-March Arizona Soccer Association (ASA) has kept a close watch on the COVID-19 situation. We have acknowledged the fluidity of the situation and have remained steadfast in our focus on making decisions that put our players, families, communities, and all of Arizona first. With that we have hosted weekly calls with the Directors of Coaching and soccer leadership to maximize the lines of communication.

During our last conference call, soccer leadership throughout Arizona and senior staff from ASA came to a consensus that the suspension of all sanctioned activities would be extended through May 15, 2020. As a reminder, and as previously communicated, suspension of all sanctioned activities means that there is no insurance coverage provided to any organization or person conducting or participating in soccer activities (i.e. training, practices, games). ASA bears no liability until the suspension of soccer related activities is lifted.

This decision is not made lightly but as we assess the current trends and directives for "re-opening" it is unrealistic to think that we can ensure an adherence to the "re-opening" guidelines for our players, families, coaches, or ultimately our communities. That is our ultimate goal, and more importantly our responsibility.

The impacts of this extension on tryouts are:

1. Beginning May 1, 2020 , and in accordance with ASA Bylaw 812, Section 6 Parts b and c, representatives from a Club may have contact, initiated or otherwise with any player or family. Clubs, and any representative from a Club, including coaches, parents, or players are to have no contact with anyone outside of their Club until May 1, 2020.

2. Tryout sessions can not take place any earlier than May 16, 2020. ASA will continue to monitor the direction of federal, state, and local authorities over the coming weeks.

ASA had previously communicated that State Cup and Presidents Cup were indefinitely suspended, and refunds have been processed. With the announcement of this extension, we want to provide more definitive direction and announce that 2020 State Cup and 2020 Presidents Cup are officially cancelled.

It is not understated that these are unprecedented times and that we will get through this together. ASA is committed to ensuring that everyone in Arizona, players, coaches, referees, and families are able to participate in ways that they are confident are safe and puts them first, ahead of everything else, as we all prepare for the 2020 - 2021 season.
